TREEBOY & ARC SELMA

Toeing the line between Bloc Party's epic indie riffs and something much darker, the new one from Leeds-based post-punk enthusiasts Treeboy & Arc is a short yet powerful injection of tormented vocals and melancholy chord changes. Channelling the reverb-drenched guitars of FEWS and DIIV, 'Selma' ducks and dives in all the right places anchored by a brooding bass line and some thundering drum work that transform this former interlude into a perfectly-formed anthem. The band explained, "Selma is quite different in style to our other songs as we wrote it to be a transition. It’s almost an interlude that we added some vocals to." Treeboy & Arc begin their 10 date co-headline tour with fellow Northern noise-makers Chest Pains tonight in Glasgow with support from YOWL. Now that's a line up! -Holly Mullineaux
